The Voice Lodge

A vocal ritual workshop based on the ‘4 doors’ structure of the North American Sweat Lodge (Inipi).

‘The Voice Lodge’ is a ritual of music and prayer we create together as a group. It is an experiential learning space, teaching us about the different elements of ritual, the importance of set and setting, the meaning of the Altar and the 4 elements and the power music and words have on our state of consciousness.

‘The Voice Lodge’ is built in 4 parts. Each part is dedicated to a certain energy we explore together through words, movement, breath, and song. For example: the 1st part is about opening the ritual space, crystallizing our intentions, and declaring them. Through movement and voice exercises we release tension, connect to the group and consciously open a space of ritual within us and around us. The intention we hold together as a group is a very powerful tool that we will work with to create a space that allows vulnerability and deep emotional release.

Tools we use

Rhythm and Movement: Incorporating rhythm and body movements, supporting a free-flowing expression.

Breath Exercises: Calming the mind, energizing the body, and supporting our ability to use our voices in the best way.

Vocal Exercises: Individual, paired, and group vocal practices to explore the abilities of our voices.

Improvisation: practicing and playing with our voices and bodies in a spontaneous creativity.

Prayer: Using words to express what is alive within you, connecting more deeply to your inner self and the great mystery.

Writing: untamed writing as a tool to express our subconscious. Working with a freeflow text into poetry and mantra.

Performing: Standing in front of the group to share our prayers, our creations so we can feel power of being heard and echoed.

Group Sharing: This is an opportunity to share your personal experiences, thoughts, and prayers within the group, fostering a supportive community space.
